The Yorkton branch of the Royal Canadian Legion received final approvals Monday which will facilitate their move to a new home in the city.
At the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday a development permit application for a Community Facility use at 387-B Parkview Road was given final approval.
The proposed community facility was listed as a discretionary use in the C-4 neighbourhood commercial zone and, subject to public notification requirements, Council approval was needed in order for Administration to issue a Development Permit through the Discretionary Use Application Process.
The Legion intends to use the location as an office and meeting area and a place to host special events for members and invited guests. The organization recently sold its previous location and relocating to this facility will allow them to continue its commitments and support to members, families and the community. The unit is located in an existing strip mall which has adequate on-site parking and the proposed use satisfies the Zoning Bylaw definition of a Community Facility.
Council was unanimous in supporting the request.
