The former CaseIH location may soon be the location of a shopping centre.

The City of Yorkton will provide some unused right-of-way property to help facilitate a new shopping centre.
The owner of 230 Broadway Street East recently acquired the property with the intent of redeveloping the site into a retail shopping centre, explained Michael Eger Director of Planning, Building & Development with the City.
“The owner has approached the City to obtain a portion of unused street right-of-way along the northerly property boundary,” he said.
Edger said Administration saw no need to protect the right-of-way for current or future services and has tentatively agreed to close an approximately 10.5 metre (35 ft) wide portion of Broadway Street East right-of-way.
The former right-of-way adjacent to 230 Broadway Street East would be sold and consolidated with the private lands.
“The remaining portion of closed right-of-way would not be sold at this time, but its closure is proposed firstly to create consistency of right-of-way width between blocks and secondly to create flexibility for potential redevelopment or expansion of the property at 2 Kelsey Bay,” said Eger. He added, “The Ministry of Highways has provided preliminary approval and further indicated that they will not require any compensation.”
Council gave unanimous first reading support at its regular meeting Monday.
The proposed bylaw is subject to public notice requirements. As such, the proposed Bylaw will be posted at City Hall and on the City webpage, advertised in the local newspaper and mailed out to all property owners within 75-metres of the affected lands.
