Liver Disease Fundraiser Night for Murray Thiele (Oldest son of Fred & Mildred Thiele) - Sat., Sept. 23, 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at Faye’s Café & Bar (in copper coloured shop), Jim & Cyndi Williams Acreage (north of Yorkton). Take Hwy. 9 towards Canora for 5 miles, turn left (west) on Mehan Road and drive for 3 more miles. Destination is on your right. $25.00 ticket (includes roast beef/chicken dinner, dessert & a drink). Murray was diagnosed with advanced stage liver disease in Sept. 2016. His health has deteriorated now to a point where he is no longer able to work to support his family. He is on the transplant waiting list. We are hosting this fundraiser to help assist his family financially while he waits (and recovers) from transplant surgery. Evening’s festivities include a 50/50 draw, silent auction, door prizes and cash bar.

Sun., Sept. 17, 2017, 2nd Annual Classic Car Show for a Cause at Yorkton Crossing, 348 Morrison Drive, Yorkton. Fund raiser for the Terry Fox Run. Selling Hotdogs, drinks and popcorn. Proceeds going to Terry Fox. Yorkton Car Club will be bringing a variety of Classic Car’s to view and Ray Sedley will be providing 50 and 60’s music. We will have yard games, draws for the whole family. Tours will be available for those that are interested.

CFUW’s vision is of a strong national organization working to ensure that all girls and women have equal opportunities and equal access to quality education. CFUW will continue to enhance its role as a national, bilingual, independent organization striving to promote equality, social justice, fellowship and life-long learning for women and girls. CFUW Yorkton club plans to commemorate this proclamation at a later date. CANADA 150 Dinner for Old Brick Mill – Wed., Sept. 20. Tickets now on sale! In the spirit of Canada’s 150 birthday, the Yorkton Brick Mill Heritage Society will be hosting a dinner to celebrate the York Farmer’s Colonization Company who settled here and were responsible for making Yorkton what it is today. The dinner will also act as a fund raiser to help the society complete more work on the brick mill that is required to finish stabilization of the building. The dinner will be held on Sept. 20 at St. Gerard’s Parish Hall in Yorkton. The Honourable Madam Justice Nancy Morrison will be the guest speaker telling the story of her family connections with the Hopkins and Christopherson family who were settlers of the York Colony in 1882. Tickets are $50.00 and available at Park’s Jewellery, Vern Brown – Chairperson or any Committee Member.
