THE LEAD SINGER of powerhouse rock band Creed, Scott Stapp will be performing in Yorkton on October 18.

The band Creed is a rock powerhouse, selling millions of albums and topping the charts with singles like "Higher" and "With Arms Wide Open." Lead singer Scott Stapp will be giving fans new and old a new experience, embarking on a solo acoustic tour, which stops in Yorkton on October 18.

Stapp says that while the show will see many old favorites being performed, it will also be a chance to hear something that fans haven't heard before.

"It's the way the songs were written, and it gives the material a completely different vibe, especially some of the heavier tunes. You can really see the singer songwriter aspect of even the heavier songs. I'm really excited about that, and giving Creed fans something they've always been screaming for," Stapp says.

"It really allows me to explore all the sounds, vibes, and all the ways to make these songs translate in a way that showcase the true vibe of what the song is about, in a manner that's less abrasive but still powerful and dynamic."

The show will feature cuts from both the Creed catalog and Stapp's solo album "The Great Divide," along with new material fans will have never heard before. He also intends the evening to have an intimate vibe, and that the fans will be the main driver of where the songs go and what gets played.

"Without the fans, Creed nor I have a live show. Fans are part of that live show, with their energy and what they're feeding us. It becomes one song after a couple songs in, that's what makes a Creed show so special and a Stapp show so special," Stapp notes.

"I want us to be free enough and comfortable enough with the fans that are there just to write, write new material right there in front of the audience. Just to share that process which has been so personal and private my whole life, with the folks who have given me such a good life... I don't think we'll play any song that we're going to be playing on this tour the same twice... We're going to take chances, and we're going to push ourselves as creative artists as hard as we can."

The Yorkton stop is the only Saskatchewan stop on the tour, and the first time Stapp has been to the city. He hopes to reach out to fans who he has never seen before.

"I really feel that there are a lot of Creed fans there that never saw Creed, so I'm really glad to bring that to them and make some new connections with fans, and some new places," Stapp says.

The tour comes on the heels of a Creed reunion, after a break of a few years. Stapp feels that after youth in a rock band, a break was important to get grounded, and rediscover what they love about music, and about life in general.

"The break that we took allowed us all to rediscover who we were outside of the band, and really grow as human beings and find out what was important in life to us. For me, that was my faith and my family, and to have that as my core foundation has just been a blessing in my life and really made me a better man and a better artist," Stapp says.

The return to music shows no sign of slowing down, as Stapp says he's working on a new album, which he describes as a departure from his last solo work The Great Divide. He credits much of his new inspiration to his wife and three children, who he says are the most important thing in his life.

"I always write better from a place of peace and happiness, and right now that's where I'm at. It's all for the love of music, there's no other motivation. It's been a real inspiring time."

The show will take place on October 18 at Holly's Nightclub at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are available at Booster Juice, but are selling fast.
