Members golf event held

Congratulations to John and Allisha LaRocque on the safe arrival of their baby boy, a new great grandson for Gerald & Darlene Burman.

Bredenbury Sunnyside Golf Club held their membership tournament this past weekend.

Winners in the events were:

Ladies – Cassie Kaeding; Senior Ladies – Louise McLachlan; Men’s – Craig Kaeding; Senior Men’s – Ken Morrison.  Everyone who took part in the tournament received prizes. Thanks to those who donated them. Winner of the Callaway Golf Bag donated by Norm Thompson was Ken Mus. Jack Taylor won the $100 Mosaic rider Certificate.

A big thank you for a delicious supper that was catered by Glenn & Laura Langford served at the club house for the golfers and open to others. Thanks to all who participated, attended, donated prizes and organized this event.

Deepest sympathy to the family and relatives of the late Shirley Porteous, a former resident of Bredenbury from the Town of Bredenbury and area.

Sympathy to Eleanor Haas and family of Saskatoon on the passing of her husband Roy from the Town of Bredenbury and area.

The Bredenbury Lions Club once again will be selling Lions calendars. Someone will be phoning and checking for any changes or errors from the previous one. If you did not get contacted within the next month please contact a Lions member.

Irene Stenko of Regina and Pauline Riddy of Nanaimo, BC were visiting with Arnold and Sheila Vickers and family, Gerald and Darlene Burman and Louise McLachlan. They also visited many friends and relatives in Yorkton. It was nice to have a visit with these former residents and teachers.

Twila and Murray Brears and family enjoyed camping at Good Spirit Lake this past weekend. They were joined by Barry and Lori Holick of Moose Jaw.

Deepest sympathy to the family and relatives of the late Ruby Heinrick (Thorvaldson) from the Bredenbury Community and District. Ruby was the last family member of Chris and Jonia Thorvaldson eleven children to pass away. She was born in Bredenbury, attended school here and lived many years here when they were first married, raising their family. Funeral Services were held in Regina on Fri., Sept. 16 at Speers – 1:00 p.m. Burial to take place at a later date.

First Church Service in Bredenbury will be Sun., Sept. 18 at 9:30.

Fun Day At School:

The Town of Bredenbury in conjunction with the clubs in Bredenbury will be hosting a Fun day on Oct. 1, 2016 at the school grounds.

The day will include: Disc Golf, Ball, Horseshoes, Basketball Hoops, and Children Games. A schedule will be sent out closer to the date.

The day will also include a Pancake Breakfast, a BBQ and Wings and Fries in the evening. There will be a cost to purchase the meals.

The evening will conclude with fireworks at the school yard and a DJ at the rink in the evening. All ages welcome.

There are squares still available for a beautiful basket valued at over $1,000 donated by Sagebrush Studios. Squares are $5 per square and are available at the town office. All proceeds go to Bredenbury Golf Club.

The $1,000 tickets can be handed in to the town office or Marlene Byczynski as soon as a book is sold, so that we can see how many have been sold. If you need books of tickets contact Marlene Byczynski at 306-898-2345. All tickets must be handed in before Sept. 15, 2016.
