The municipality is following public health recommendations and communicating with Ken Thompson, emergency measures organization (EMO) co-ordinator and fire chief, as well as the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).

By following provincial requirements and public health recommendations, everyone plays a direct role in limiting the impact of COVID-19 on oneself, neighbours and the community as a whole.

To support these efforts, the town office, the public works shop and the water treatment plant are closed to the public, but remain in operation. The Broda Sportsplex and OCC Hall are closed until further notice. The Crowstand Centre is closed until further notice; but, as of the date of this article, the Vet Clinic continues to operate as normal.

“We understand that you probably have questions for the town. We hope to address most of these through the following. Bill payments may be made:

•           Online on the website and through TD, Credit Unions and Scotiabank

•           E-transfer

•           Traditional mail service

•           A secure drop box has been installed at the town office, along 3rd Avenue. Signage posted.

Assessment notices will be mailed to the applicable properties shortly. Property tax notices will be mailed out in April or early May. The five per cent discount on property taxes has been extended until April 30 and may be extended further; as determined on a month-to-month basis.

Tax enforcement of 2019 property tax arrears will continue as planned. Contact town office to arrange payment(s).

Water bills will be issued as normal. Contact town office to make payment arrangements.

Water meter connections and disconnections will continue; however, it is being requested that landlords leave water connected between tenants.

The applications for water meter connections and disconnections can be found on the website. Send the completed form to the town office via fax at (306) 542-2975 or email at utilities.kamsack@sasktel.net.

The landfill continues to operate as normal. Landfill tickets have been waived. This will be re-evaluated on a month-to-month basis.

In order to protect themselves, town staff will not enter any residences or buildings, except in an extreme emergency. Contact town office for further clarification.

Other public and private buildings have also adjusted their normal operations for the time being. “A number of local groups, organizations and businesses remain in operation and are prepared to meet your needs. If you have questions about their operations, please contact the specific group or business,” continued the release.

“We strongly recommend following the Government of Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan plans, requirements and recommendations. Take care and do not panic. We will get through this together. The Garden of Saskatchewan will continue to grow,” the release concluded.
