SALTCOATS - Annual Christmas supper planned

Saltcoats United Church office hours are Mondays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1-4:00 p.m. Tuesdays are 8:30 a.m. to noon, half days. Note that the joint service is Sun., Nov. 24 at 10:00 a.m. in Langenburg.

Laketown Leaders host their Christmas Supper on Sat., Dec. 14 at 5:30 p.m. in the Stirling Room. The ADVANCE tickets are $15.00 and there is a limited number. The gift exchange (take one if you bring one) is for $5.00 value and a program and card games will follow. There is a cut off date for ticket sales with respect to caterers and it is Fri., Dec. 5. St. Augustine's thanks everyone for their support of the Craft and trade show. The door prize winners were Joyce Morgan, Jim McCallum, Cathy Jacobs and Maureen Morgan.

Sunrise Health and Parkland Valley Sport, culture and recreation are willing to make available an "Active Aging" Community Initiative program at the Stirling Room under the peer leadership of Laketown Leaders. This program is made up of stretching exercises to enhance strength, balance and flexibility. It is a series of movements to be done at each participant's level of ability, even from a wheelchair. Warm up begins, strength and balance, then into cool down and stretch. This initiative was established in 2011 and has been fine tuned and approved by physicians and therapists so that peers in any interest group may guide participants through the manual or video. Saltcoats Laketown Players present a comedy/drama "The Scrap Heap Kids and the Alley Cat" by Stephan Farquharson. This runs from Feb. 6 to 9, 2014. The cast is: Steve Farquharson, Joan Wilson, Martin Phillips, Stephanie Newsham, Scott Hoffart, Jesse Baron, Candice Baron, Liam Baron, Jessica Farquharson, Katelyn Farquharson, Carla McDill, Donnie McDill, Marilyn Herron, Orville Herron, Gidge Trepanier, and Lisa Kruger. Saltcoats Anglican church reminds all to book Sun., Dec. 1, 1:30 in afternoon for the Spirit of Christmas in Carols and Trees at Saltcoats and District Community Hall. The free will donation goes to the upkeep of the hall and the refreshment time is the better for the donations of seasonal cookies.
