Legion poster winners recognized

Each year the Legion Sponsors the National Literacy and Poster Contest based on the theme of Remembrance. Over 100,000 young Canadians participate every year. General Alexander Ross Branch #77 had 428 entries from the schools in Yorkton.

General Alexander Ross Branch #77 had 428 entries from the schools in Yorkton.

The first place winners from all Legions in Canada go on to Zone, from there the 1st place winner goes on to Districts and from there 1st place winners go on to Provincials and the 1st place winner in each category go to Nationals to be judged with the other 1st place winners from other Province’s (there are 10 Legion Provincial Commands).

Primary:

Junior:

Essay, Courtney Gilbey, MC Knoll; Poem, Alexa Haider, St. Michael’s; Colour Poster, Madison Hoffman, Yorkdale Central; B/W Poster, Andrea Stickwood, St. Michael’s.

Intermediate:

Essay, Matthew Mandzuk, YRHS; Poem, Cattlin Haas, St. Michael’s; Colour Poster, Jillionne Sutian, Yorkdale Central; B/W Poster, Brayden Wasylniuk, St. Paul’s.

Senior:

Essay, Nathan Pidperyhora; Poem, Alexis Jade Guy; Colour Poster, Dakota Cmoc and B/W Poster, Brooke Maduck all from Sacred Heart.

Zone Level

Junior:

Provincials:

Nathan Pidperhora 1st place Sr. Essay.

Nathan’s Essay has gone to the Nationals to be judged with 9 other Sr. Essays from the other Provinces. Good Luck from us all.
