Arrests made in prescription drug ring

Following a six-month joint investigation between Kamsack RCMP, Yorkton District General Investigation Unit and Yorkton Municipal RCMP, on January 6 and 7 Kamsack RCMP, Yorkton RCMP District General Investigation Section, Yorkton Municipal Detachment, Yorkton Rural Detachment, and Canora Detachment participated in the arrests of a number of persons involved in the trafficking of prescription narcotics in Kamsack, Kamsack district, City of Yorkton, Yorkton rural area, Springside, Canora, and Pelly, Saskatchewan.

The following people have all been arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as well as Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to Section 354 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code.Kamsack Court Date (Feb. 16th 2011 at 09:30)

Police also seized five vehicles as part of the investigation:two pick-up trucks, two SUVs and one car.

This matter is still under investigation by Yorkton District General Investigation Section, Kamsack Detachment, Yorkton Municipal Detachment, and Safer Communities and Neighborhood (SCAN). Police expect further arrests in the next few days.

Road sign stolenBetween December 23 and December 29, 2010, unknown person(s) stole a road hazard sign that was posted on the north east side of Yorkton (property of the R.M. of Wallace No. 243).
