It was just the sort of day local storm hunter Ryan Crouse dreams of.
On Sunday, (July 12), there was a warning of tornadoes and a storm between Yorkton and Melville, and he went looking.
And as he said in an email to Yorkton This Week, “Yowie, wowie, what a view!”
“The models for the day were showing the most potential was South of Regina (Weyburn to Estevan),” he explained. “I was seeing decent potential a little later between Fort Qu'Appelle and Yorkton.
I am glad I went with my gut this time and stayed put because WOW! did it pay off.
“What a stunning storm!
“Shortly after the beautiful structure, I was in the rotation recording over 105-kilometre winds.
“Fantastic short chase day.”
