TheSalvation Army is set to begin its annual Christmas fundraising campaign.

The kettle kick-off will be this Saturday (Nov. 20), with a series of COVID-19 precautions in place, said Captain Sam Tim.

“We will have to adjust. It will be different this year for sure,” he said.

Tim said the kettles will be manned, but the volunteers will be masked, and have some extra responsibilities, in particular wiping down the kettles periodically for health safety.

Kettles will be located at the Parkland Mall, Save On Foods, Superstore, Walmart, and the downtown Liquor Board Store.

Tim said due to COVID concerns they are in need of more volunteers to man the kettles which will operate 10-6 in most locations, and 11-6 at the Mall. Volunteer shifts are two-hours long. People interested can contact Mary at 306-316-0265.

The kettle campaign is the major fundraising effort for the Salvation Army and the money raised helps ensure families needing some help at Christmas can receiver a food hamper and toys for children.

Tim reminded donations can also be made direct to the campaign with more information at the number above.
