Five arrested in cocaine sting

Yorkton police netted five suspects in a cocaine trafficking conspiracy last week.

Yorkton police netted five suspects in a cocaine trafficking conspiracy last week.

On January 16, RCMP conducted three vehicle stops and executed a search warrant at a residence on Seventh Avenue between Smith and Darlington seizing cocaine and money.

Four men and one woman were arrested. Neal Mydonick, 32, is charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine. Madeleine Esquivel is charged with possessing the proceeds of crime. Two other unnamed men face possession of cocaine charges.

Mydonick, Esquivel and the two other men were released from police custody on a promise to appear in court March 4.

The fifth suspect, 22-year-old Davi Steven Estrada (a.k.a. Hector Lopez), remained in custody until Monday. Estrada was already on a conditional release for cocaine possession when he was arrested last Wednesday.

Estrada faces two counts of trafficking cocaine, one count of conspiracy to traffic cocaine and two counts of possession of the proceeds of crime.

The defence successfully argued for Estrada's release on $3,000 bail and standard conditions plus several other conditions.

In addition to keeping the peace and being of good behaviour etc., Estrada must reside at a specific address in Abbottsford, BC, except to appear in court in Saskatchewan; observe a curfew from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.; submit to searches of his person and vehicle to a maximum of three times per month and; not possess a cell phone or pager, except for purposes of employment.
