Lieutenant George Franklin Dracup, 128th Canadian Infantry Battalion gave his life for his country July 28, 1917 and is buried at Bailleul Military Cemetery, Bailleul, France. He died of wounds received in action. George Dracup lived in Yorkton from the turn of the century until he enlisted for active service in 1914. He was involved in real estate and constructed the Argyle Apartments on Argyle Street. He was married to Hattie Markham. Dracup Avenue was named in his honour.
