In partnership with Reel Canada, the Yorkton Film Festival (YFF) is proud to bring National Canadian Film Day celebrations to Yorkton!

“We’ve been a partner on National Canadian Film Day since the program started, and we’re very excited to continue to bring Canadian films to our local audience.” Said YFF Executive Director Randy Goulden. “I’m very excited to be showing the film Maudie this year, and I think it’s a wonderful story that many people in Yorkton will enjoy.”

Maudie tells the story of Canadian folk artist Maud Lewis, played by Sally Hawkins (recently nominated for an Academy Award for her role in The Shape of Water), falls in love with a fishmonger, played by Ethan Hawke, while working for him as a live-in housekeeper. Maudie is an Irish-Canadian co-production, and recently won several Canada Screen Awards (including Best Picture) at the 2018 Awards.

National Canadian Film Day programming in Yorkton will take place on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart High School. The film is presented free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend.
