Residents of the Yorkton District Nursing Home can tune into their favourite television shows in style with the installation of seven large screen TVs in various common areas of the facility.

With the help of recreation workers, Debbie Mclelland, and Ward MacKenzie and day wellness staff, Cheryl Gerrard, Wendy Neibrandt, Donna Pfeifer and Karen DeLong, several different fund raisers we held to raise $4200 for the project.

One of the projects was a raffle, with residents going to sell tickets at the Yorkton Coop grocery store. On another occasion, the Coop provided all of the product for a summer BBQ.

And there were a range of other projects including a monthly farmers market at the nursing home, and noon lunches with perogies, hotdogs and onion rings.

"Our TV's are wonderful to have, a very modern, much larger picture for our residents to enjoy," offered recreation supervisor Karen DeLong.

The Health Foundation also became involved with the project donating money to the Nursing Home to purchase new Fireplace TV stands to hold the new TV's.
