Effective April 1, The Salvation Army Yorkton Food Bank will increase its operating hours in order to assist as many people as possible during this COVID-19 pandemic.

The newly expanded Food Bank hours will be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to serve the most vulnerable in our community.

In recent days, the Food bank which is located at 78 South Front Street in Yorkton has seen an increase in the number of people that have walked through the door.

Lieutenant Samuel Tim says, “As we continue to assess the impact of this COVID-19 and the effects that this will have in our community, The Salvation Army wants to be present to assist in whatever way possible during this very difficult season that we find ourselves. As always, the mission of The Salvation Army is to give hope to individuals and families in Yorkton and the surrounding areas and to assist those who may be struggling either financially or otherwise due to the pandemic.”

The Salvation Army has been in Yorkton since 1913.  Lt. Tim says:  “Whether we are dealing with flood, fire or COVID-19, we believe that we will get through it by the grace of God.”
