The Family Justice Services will be offering monthly information sessions for couples considering or entering the process of divorce.

The “Parenting after Separation and Divorce Program” will be offered once a month in Yorkton. The next session is scheduled for August 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m..

The program is aimed at divorcing couples with children. It focuses on supporting the children during the big change to their lives, emphasizing communication and dispute resolution. The program guides couples through the transition of divorce.

Jackie Rapley, a support staff member with Family Justice Services, says the program has been running for 30 years. It is offered in 11 locations across Saskatchewan.

Attendance to these sessions is mandatory for couples with children who are divorcing through the court system. Couples who are working out arrangements on their own are not required to go, but they are free to do so.

“Anyone can attend,” Rapley says.

Divorcing parties must attend the sessions separately.

People can register for a session by calling Family Justice Services at 306-787-9905 or toll-free at 1-888-218-2822.

Attendees will receive the location of their session after registering.
