One of the co-accused in a robbery and stabbing at Kahkewistahaw Gas & Convenience Store on New Year's Eve day will spend the next four-to-six months in jail after pleading guilty to several unrelated charges.

Bronson Gordon, 28, pleaded guilty this afternoon to three counts of theft under $5,000 and several breach of probation charges related to a series of shoplifting offences at various Yorkton businesses.

Citing a long criminal record dating to 1997, the Crown, represented by Darryl Bode, asked for significant jail time of six months in a joint submission with defence attorney Richard Yaholnitsky.

Yaholnitsky had earlier asked that aggravated assault and robbery charges related to the December 31 stabbing be set aside as he was defending the Francis Bellegarde, the co-accused in that case. Gordon will appear by video January 7 from the correctional centre in Regina on those counts.

Earlier, Bellegarde had been remanded in custody until January 10 for a plea hearing.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., December 31, a man was attacked while entering the Kahkewistahaw Gas & Convenience Store. He sustained serious injuries for which he had to be rushed to Regina for treatment.

Sgt. Rob Laurent of Yorkton municipal RCMP said the victim was known to the suspects.
