The TD Summer Reading Club is up and running again at the Yorkton Public Library.

Children aged 6-12 can participate in scheduled activities each week at the library throughout July and August.

"The theme for the whole summer is 'Imagine,'" said program coordinator Amy Chillog.

On Tuesday afternoons at 2:00, registered participants will play games and make crafts based around the week's imagination-inspired theme. The first two weeks of July covered "Monster Mash" and "Wacky Science." Upcoming themes include "Crazy Cooks," "Fear Factor Fun," "Do You Believe in Aliens?" and "Be a Time Traveller."

Children can attend as many or as few events as desired, but must register in advance.

"You have to be preregistered because space fills up fast and we have to plan everything out," said Chillog.

Every Wednesday at 2:00, the library will also be showing a family-friendly movie based on that week's theme, with free popcorn and juice available. No registration is required to watch.

Another option at the library this summer is the reading program, which offers children and teens prizes for submitting logs of their summer reading habits.

The library is also seeking business sponsors for its summer programming: cash, gift certificates, or promotional items to use as prizes.

Registration for Summer Reading Club activities can be done in person at the Yorkton Public Library.
