There was an increased police presence in the communities of Balgonie, Southey, Muscowpetung First Nation, Piapot First Nation, and the surrounding areas starting Wednesday afternoon.

“Investigators from multiple detachments and units flooded these areas to search for the suspects and ensure public safety,” detailed the release.  “This response included officers from Southey, Fort Qu’Appelle, Punnichy, Indian Head and White Butte RCMP Detachments; the Saskatchewan RCMP General Investigation Section, Crime Reduction Team, Police Dog Services, Major Crimes Section, Major Case Management, and Air Services; the Protection and Response Team; Combined Traffic Services; and Regina Police Service.

“At times there were more than 30 police officers actively searching for the suspects and ensuring police and public safety.”

Three adult males are currently in custody in relation to these incidents.

Due to the large number of investigators, wide area covered by this search and complexity of the investigation, the full details of the incident are currently being gathered by the Saskatchewan RCMP General Investigation Section.

A more comprehensive media release will be issued tomorrow.
