After 60 years in business, one of Yorkton's bedrock retailers is changing hands.
The retail assets of Weber's Building Centre and Weber Furniture & Appliance Centre in Yorkton and Kamsack was purchased by McMunn & Yates Building Supplies Ltd. in a deal that went through on Monday.
A family company, Weber Construction Ltd. was founded in 1951 by Charles Weber and operated in recent years by Brent and Brian Weber. After the sale of the retail division, the brothers will continue to own and operate the company's construction division.
McMunn & Yates Building Supplies Ltd., a Dauphin-based corporation, maintains 14 retail locations in Manitoba. The new management plans to make alterations to the Weber storefronts and enhance the retailer's merchandise options and purchasing systems in the future.
In a press release, Brent Weber, president of Weber Construction Ltd., thanked the community for its long support of the Weber business.
"Over the years it has been a true pleasure to serve our builders and retail customers in both Yorkton and Kamsack. It has also been a great experience to work with all of our dedicated staff members."
