Yorkton Business Improvement District extends Clean Sweep Program

The Yorkton Business Improvement District is once again helping the District by extending our project.

The Yorkton Business Improvement District is once again helping the District by extending our project.

The Clean Sweep project will be extended into winter and our SIGN workers will be out clearing snow for winter of 2020/2021 on the Down Town streets in front of the empty buildings.

Shop owners are responsible for the snow removal of their sidewalks throughout the winter but with the empty locations our walkability has become an issue.   With coordination from the YBID and SIGN we have decided to clean the walks downtown from Betts Ave to 5th Ave and down Broadway and Smith so our shoppers can walk safely.

On Thursday Oct. 29th at 10 am we will be making the donation of an additional $5000.00 towards this well needed service.  A cheque presentation and photo opportunity will be done at this time wirh Andrew Sedley Executive Director of SIGN.   You are all welcome to attend.

We wish to acknowledge Let’s Make Wine as they will be storing the shovels and salt for our workers during the winter so they have ease of access when needed.   We wish the workers to not have to travel from SIGN or their home with supplies is the Winter.

Workers will head out soon and will be handing out cards for information about the program when asked.

The future goal for this project is to extend the program to a fundraising opportunity and clean sweep the sidewalks of Downtown for years to come.
