Yorkton’s N.L. Construction has been recognized by the Saskatchewan ABEX Awards, taking home the prize for young entrepreneur. That prize goes to entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35 who have achieved success either in the start-up or continued operation of a business.

Dustin Nehring and Taylor Lang are the N and L of N.L. Construction, and the recipients of the award. Nehring says it’s an accomplishment for the entire company to be recognized, especially on a provincial level.

“We know we do a lot of good things, it’s nice to get recognized for that and it gives us that extra little pat on the back and motivation to keep driving forward.”

Nehring notes that there are many young entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan business, so getting recognized is a rare honour for the company.

“Words can’t really even explain how proud I am of all our staff and all our guys, our community and everything that goes with it.”

The award is one for the entire company, and Nehring credits their attention to detail and pride in their work as helping the company grow. He also says having the right staff and crew for the success NL has seen over the years.

“I think we have a lot of people who really, truly believe in the company, put in a solid effort, work hard and really want to be here. That’s number one, you have to have a good working environment, and we have that.”

The company has been recognized several times over the years, including an earlier ABEX award in 2014. The award is a reminder that they’re doing the right thing, Nehring believes.

“It not only gives you a chance to reflect a little bit, but it also gives you a chance to remind yourself that you’re doing good things. Construction isn’t an easy industry, so to be recognized – we’ve been fortunate enough to be recognized at the Yorkton level and the provincial level – it definitely reminds us that there is a lot of good going on.”
