Bronze is not the colour the Yorkton Regional High School robotics program has gotten used to over the past two years, but it does represent another national medal.
The team of Drew Bulitz, Brayden Miller, Carter Park and Josh Tysowski, who recently won the provincial Skills Canada competition, represented the province in Toronto last week with a third place showing.
Kevin Chiasson, robotics teacher, said the competition is always tough at nationals and was proud of the boys' accomplishment.
"They worked really hard," he said. "We've had some really good success over the past couple of years, but you can't win everything."
A win at nationals in 2012 propelled the YRHS program to international recognition when the team of Bo Chiasson, Rachael Machnee, Jayden Leister and Taylor Pachal took gold in Vancouver. Chiasson and Leister then turned that into multiple gold by prevailing the international America's championship in Brazil. The two also competed at the worlds in Germany coming in ninth out of 19 nations and earning a Medallion of Excellence for scoring more than 500 points in the competition.
Last year, Brayden Miller, Josh Tysowski, Carter Park and Mike Kozushka made it two national titles in a row for YRHS.
Yorkton was also represented at this year's national competition by Hanna Hansen and Calic Tolentino of Sacred Heart High School in the 3D Animation animation category. They came in 4th.
