A man charged in connection to the murder of a three-old-girl while he was out of jail on bail charged with another violent crime has now been denied bail.

Fabian Morin Jr., 21, had a show cause hearing in Prince Albert Provincial Court June 26 on second-degree murder charges in connection to the death of his half-sister Emily McCallum-Daniels on April 9, 2020. He was denied bail and a warrant of committal was issued.

According to Prince Albert Police, officers were called to a home in 800 block of 17 Street West to a report of a child in cardiac arrest. Paramedics from Parkland Ambulance took the girl to Victoria Hospital and she was transported to a Saskatoon children’s hospital where she was pronounced deceased later that day.

At the time of the girl’s murder, Fabian was on bail for aggravated assault charges.

According to Sandy Bay RCMP, they arrested six people November 2019 in Sandy Bay – including Fabian Morin – for a violent assault. Police say they received a call at about 1:40 a.m. on Nov. 21, 2019, about numerous people threatening to injure a man in his home in Sandy Bay. When police arrived, they found a 26-year-old man with severe injuries. In addition, there were numerous windows broken and furniture and appliances severely damaged.

Police provided first aid to the victim until EMS arrived. He was transported by air ambulance to a Saskatoon hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

With help from the Prince Albert General Investigation Section, police arrested six people including Fabian Morin and Kobe Ray, 19. The four others arrested were youths and their names can’t be released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Morin is now scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court July 17 to speak to the charges against him.
