P.A. man accused of killing 3-year-old to stand trial

A Prince Albert man accused of killing his three-year-old half sister will stand trial on second-degree murder charges.

On Nov. 19, after a preliminary hearing, Prince Albert Provincial Court Judge T. Healey ruled there was enough evidence against Fabian Morin Jr., 21, in connection to the death of Emily McCallum-Daniels. The matter has now been sent to Court of Queen’s Bench in Prince Albert to set a trial date.Morin elected to be tried by judge and jury.

A warrant of committal was issued and Morin will remain in custody until his trial.

According to Prince Albert Police, they got a call on April 9, 2020, that a child was in cardiac arrest at a home in the 800 block of 17 Street West. Paramedics from Parkland Ambulance took the child to Victoria Hospital. She was taken to a Saskatoon children’s hospital where she was pronounced deceased later that day.
