Police hope to fill in hours between man leaving hospital and being found dead

SASKATOON — Investigators in Saskatoon are asking for the public's help to piece together the hours between a man being discharged from hospital, and police finding him dead in his apartment.

Police say Richard Fernuk had a heart condition and was suffering chest pains after visiting friends last Thursday night.

The 68-year-old was taken by ambulance to St. Paul's Hospital and was treated, but asked to be released early Friday morning.

Police say they went to Fernuk's apartment on Saturday afternoon after they received a call to check on a resident, and they found him dead.

An autopsy on Tuesday ruled Fernuk's death a homicide, but police aren't releasing the cause.

They are asking anyone who might have seen Fernuk between the time he left the hospital Friday, and Saturday afternoon to contact them.
