RCMP searching for inmate who ran from courthouse in northern Saskatchewan

LA RONGE, Sask. — Mounties in northern Saskatchewan are looking for an inmate who allegedly escaped while being escorted from court.

RCMP say that John Riley Sanderson was being escorted from the La Ronge courthouse to a vehicle when he got out of his restraints and ran off.

They say it's believed the 32-year-old is still in the community.

They also say he has a previous history of violent offences and should not be approached.

Sanderson is described as standing 5-7, weighing 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

He also has several tattoos, including those with "LA" under his left eye and "Mary Rose and "Veronica" on his neck.

At the time of the escape, he was wearing Correctional Service of Canada clothing: green pants, a grey shirt and a blue and white plaid patterned jacket with "PACC" on the back.
