A new look The students and staff at Yorkdale Central School have gone all in to support Movember, raising $2,828 for the cause. The entire male staff, including Jason Boyda and principal Shaune Beatty, pictured (l-r), grew out their beards with a goal of raising over $2,000. Since students raised over $2,000, they were able to design the new facial hair patterns for the staff to wear. Teacher Derek Serdachny, who spearheaded the project, says they wanted to raise awareness about what Movember actually is as well as raise money for the cause, and hopes that they get people talking about men’s health issues, like prostate and testicular cancer as well as mental health and suicide. “I hope that through this, we’ve not only contributed to the cause but made it well known in the community.”Devin Wilger
