Gardon Crushers take home silver medals The Yorkton Bantam A Gardon Crushers of the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League brought home silver medals from their league championships last weekend. The Crushers were in the finals with the Moose Jaw Mavericks. The best-of-three series went to game three, which was held in Moose Jaw on Saturday, Mar. 25. It was a hard fought game, but Moose Jaw took the win with a final score of 3-2. Sara Auchstaetter scored both of the Crushers’ goals. Moose Jaw player Crystal Wale led the Mavericks with two goals and one assist. This was the second consecutive year that the Crushers have made it to the league championship and lost by only one goal. Coach Fred Schrader said they were disappointed to say the least. He also added that they needed to add more pressure and shots on goal. With the season now complete, coaches are already looking ahead to next season. A parkland-area female skate will be offered on April 23 at the Horizon Credit Union Centre in Melville, for girls who are interested in switched over to female hockey.
