Mr. Elie Malainey of Yorkton, SK and formerly of Edmonton, AB passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. He was 82 years of age. Elie was born August 3, 1934 near Wroxton, SK, the son of Steve and Irene Malayny and grew up on the family farm. He moved to Edmonton and worked for the International Union of Operating Engineers for 30 years. Elie was predeceased by his father, Steve in 1981 and mother, Irene (nee Lushney) in 1984; his wife Nellie; sisters, Mary Malayney and Nettie Mosiuk; brother, Fedor in 2008; sister-in-law, Mary Malayney and brothers-in-law, Walter and Mike. Elie leaves to celebrate his life his surviving brothers, Anton Malainey of Yorkton, SK and Philip Malayney of Yorkton, SK and sister, Ann Obirek of Garson, MB, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral Services were held on Friday, November 18, 2016 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Father Raymond Lukie, C.Ss.R. officiating. The cantor, Ed Pindus assisted in the singing of the service. The Interment Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Bernie Mosiuk, Perry Obirek, Neil Obirek and Julian Obirek serving as the casket bearers.
