MORRISON - Isobel

Mrs. Isobel Morrison, of Yorkton, SK and formerly of Stornoway, SK, beloved wife of the late Donald Morrison, passed away on January 11, 2012 in her home at the Gladstone Seniors' Residence. She was 88 years of age.


Mrs. Isobel Morrison, of Yorkton, SK and formerly of Stornoway, SK, beloved wife of the late Donald Morrison, passed away on January 11, 2012 in her home at the Gladstone Seniors' Residence. She was 88 years of age. Isobel was born on March 21, 1923 in the Clyde District of Saskatchewan and attended Shamrock School. She remained at home on the Glass family farm until she married Donald Morrison on October 28, 1948. Together they farmed on the Morrison family farm in the Stornoway District where Isobel remained until 1992. After Donald's death, Isobel moved to Yorkton where she resided until her passing. Isobel was active with various activities including the Barvis and Dunleath Presbyterian Churches, Dunleath Ladies Aid, Stornoway Red Cross, Kessock-Barvis 4H Beef Club, Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Scottish Society. Her interests included knitting, playing cards, gardening, curling and tending her garden and flower beds. Isobel and Donald enjoyed two trips to Scotland as well as trips to visit family throughout Canada. Isobel was predeceased by her parents, James and Agnes Glass; her husband, Donald; her brothers, Bob and George; her sister-in-law, Lizzie Glass and niece, Muriel Poirier. She is survived by her children, Jim (Louise), Sheila (Delbert), Finlay (Laura) and Sandra; her nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, May Glass, Freda Morrison and Mabel Morrison; her brothers-in-law, Finlay (Dorothy) Morrison and Bill Tomkow as well as numerous other relatives and friends. A Prayer Service was held on Sunday, January 15, 2012 and the Funeral Service was held on Monday, January 16, 2012. Both services were held from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Devon Pattemore of Knox Presbyterian Church officiating. The organist, Sheila MacDonald, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "All The Way My Saviour Leads Me", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Abide With Me". The piper, Ferne Katzberg, played "Amazing Grace" as the recessional music. The interment followed in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens, Garden of St. Mark, Yorkton, SK. The active pallbearers were Jim Kinequon, Cameron Morrison, Marc Morrison, Taylor Morrison, Peter Morrison and Ken Stumph while all of Isobel's grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends were invited to serve as honourary pallbearers.
