Stephanie Wingerak passed away in Regina on January 28, 2018. Stephanie was born on April 8, 1925 in the Ituna District, daughter of Anna and Walter Olchowy. Stephanie worked in Ontario and Vancouver in various employment sectors and returned back to Saskatchewan in 1952. In 1954 Stephanie was united in marriage to Walter Wingerak at the Sacred Heart Church. Stephanie and Walter farmed until 1961 and then moved into Ituna. Stephanie enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting and getting together with her family and grandchildren who joined them for summer holidays. Stephanie and Walter enjoyed going into Yorkton for a drive, taking in lunch and then continuing on to Good Spirit Lake where, once in a while, they would catch a fish or two. In 2002 Stephanie and Walter moved to Regina, they enjoyed socializing and participating in activities that included bingo and card playing in their senior's complex. Stephanie was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter, sisters Nellie, Ann, Mary, Kay and brothers Andrew, Stanley and Mike. Stephanie will be lovingly remembered by son David Wingerak and wife Leanne of Regina, daughter Theresa Poloyko and husband Harvey of Fort Qu'Appelle, four grandchildren Chris Poloyko, Amy Ellis-Toddington (Kade), Jessica McCarthy and Mathew Poloyko (Andrea) and five great-grandchildren: Ashton, Mackenzie and Kaden McCarthy, Isobel and Dexter Poloyko. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna with Rev. Fr. Ray Lukie C.Ss.R. as Celebrant. The cross bearer was Kaden McCarthy, the epistle reader was Ashton McCarthy. The interment took place in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Chris and Matthew Poloyko, Jessica, Ashton & MacKenzie McCarthy and Amy Ellis-Toddington serving as the casket bearers.
