Television brought exciting new events into our homes: shows like Top of the Morning and Profile, and interesting draws and contests. Here, Linus Westberg and Roger McLaughlin prepare for the “Countdown Draw”. Contests of every description were always popular features, including the famous “Something Green” contest, where viewers sent in a wide and astounding array of green items of every description, and the “Poem of the Month” contest, which prompted a tidal wave of wonderful poems and resulted in a published book, Video Verses. The TV station showcased numerous talented individuals and groups from the city and the many localities of the Yorkton region. Submitted by Debbie Hayward, Writer-Producer, CTV Yorkton.
This History Corner originally ran in the Dec. 9, 2009 edition of Yorkton This Week.
