Dear Editor,
Far from a typical news outlet, your newspaper continually makes a genuine and positive contribution to this area with relevant reporting and valuable community-oriented content. So I was dismayed by what was considered front-page worthy in the latest print edition. With due regard for the pressing challenge of maintaining newspaper circulation in these days of almost-free electronic media, can we not afford the grieving family greater privacy? I see no benefit in embarrassing anyone, particularly the female complainant, with the publication of salacious bedroom details. Irrespective of the outcome, it is doubtless that mourning the ordeal has been difficult enough already.
The right to publish hopefully doesn’t lead the editorial decision to publish, and sexual assault cases deserve even greater discretion. Other than that, keep up the excellent work!
