The Yorkton Family Resource Centre received funding from Shoppers Drug Mart through two different programs. The first was the Shoppers Love You program, supported by customers buying leaves for $1 or $5. A total of $2,300 came from this program. The second was the Shoppers Community Investment Fund, which is in Saskatchewan for the first time, which saw the Family Resource Center receive $3,300. Both programs are intended to help women-based charity, which Ronda Yung, owner of Shopper’s Drug Mart in Yorkton, explains is because the business is centred around women, as women make up the majority of customers and staff, so they want to empower women in the community. The funds will be used for a mom’s group with a life coach, yoga for moms, pre-natal programming and other mom-focused programs.
