The Asessippi Ski Club is well into its season, and has found success early.

“We had the first race of the season at Bottineau, North Dakota,” said coach Rochelle Bonk. “We had several kids bring home medals and everyone had a good time.

“The weather was Pretty chilly, but we made do with what we had.”

Along with competition comes efforts to grow the sport and the club.

“This week, out older athletes created an Instagram and tik-tok pages to promote our club and show people what we’re all about,” said Bonk. It can be found at @asessippiskiclub

“We’re always looking for people and companies to take advantage of the opportunity to sponsor the club,” added Bonk. “The sponsors receive lift and rental vouchers to Asessippi Ski Area as well as advertising on the club deck.”

The club was scheduled to compete Jan 25 and 28, with slalom races at Mission Ridge ski area.

“Everyone is looking forward to nice weather at Fort Qu’Appelle for the race this weekend,” she said.
