On January 10, 2020, the Saskatoon ICE Unit arrested an adult male on outstanding child pornography and breach of probation warrants in relation to two Regina ICE investigations. In January 2019, while on probation, the male was found in possession of a device that contained child pornography.
In April 2019, an investigation into the sharing of child pornography on a popular social media application identified a Moose Jaw location where the offence occurred and that the male was responsible. When ICE checked his approved residence, the male had moved without advising of a new residence. He is also charged with a new breach of probation related to his current arrest for being in possession of a cellular device that accessed the internet. This device will be subject to further forensic analysis.
Ryan Avery Nicholson, age 31, of Saskatoon is charged with:
· Two counts of Possession of Child Pornography, contrary to Sec. 163.1 (4) of the Criminal Code;
· Transmitting Child Pornography, contrary to Sec. 163.1 (3) of the Criminal Code; and
· Three counts of Breach of Probation, contrary to Sec. 733.1 (1) of the Criminal Code.
Nicholson is scheduled to make his next appearance in Regina Provincial Court on January 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
