Two drivers were charged near North Battleford between May 29 and 30 as a result of speeds in excess of 50 km/hr over the applicable speed limit.
On May 29, at approximately 6:11 p.m., an officer of the Saskatchewan RCMP North Battleford Traffic Services Unit was conducting enforcement when he determined via radar that a vehicle was driving at a speed of 132 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone. The 19-year-old male driver was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for speeding in excess of 50 km/hr over the posted speed limit. The driver was issued a summary offence ticket in the amount of $820.
On May 30, at approximately 6:28 p.m., an officer of the Saskatchewan RCMP North Battleford Traffic Services Unit was conducting enforcement when he determined via radar that a vehicle was driving at a speed of 136 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone. The 17-year-old male driver was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for speeding in excess of 50 km/hr over the posted speed limit. The driver was issued a summary offence ticket in the amount of $865.
The driver also had his driver’s license suspended for three days in Saskatchewan and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
