The University of Regina announced today that three new members have been appointed to its Board of Governors and one serving member has been reappointed. The new members, all appointed by the Government of Saskatchewan through Orders in Council, are David Chow, Cadmus Delorme, and Mark Lang. Gary Bosgoed has been reappointed for a second term.
David Chow is a partner with Chow McLeod Barristers & Solicitors in Moose Jaw. He attended law school at the University of Saskatchewan and was called to the Saskatchewan bar in 2001. In 2011, the provincial government appointed Chow as a Hearing Officer adjudicating police disciplinary matters in Saskatchewan. He has served on committees for the Saskatchewan Real Estate Commission as well and the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Chow’s community involvement includes service to the Moose Jaw United Way, Central Collegiate Cyclones Football Alumni Association, Moose Jaw Family YMCA, and the Buffalo Pound Lake Community Council Board. He has been the recipient of numerous provincial and community awards and he is a nationally certified referee for the World Tae Kwon Do Federation, and holder of a Kukkiwon Certified 4th Dan Black Belt.
Cadmus Delorme is the Chief of Cowessess First Nation. He is of Cree and Saulteaux descent and attended the First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv), receiving a Bachelor of Administration degree in 2012. Delorme also earned his Master of Public Administration from the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy in 2016. While a student at FNUniv, Delorme served in several capacities within the Student Association, including as vice-president and president. He was also a student ambassador. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his student leadership and the hospitality he showed Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, when they visited FNUniv in 2012. Delorme was also named one of CBC Saskatchewan’s Future 40 and is a member of the Saskatchewan Gaming Corp. Board of Directors.
Mark Lang is the Regina Office Managing Partner for KPMG LLP. He joined the Regina office in 1981 after graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He earned his CA designation in 1984. Lang became a partner in 1995. His practice has focused on public sector, not-for-profit, provincial government, and telecommunications and media. Lang’s community involvement includes serving as Finance Chair for Economic Development Regina, as well as serving as Chair for Regina Downtown Business Improvement District, Globe Theatre, Queen City Kinsmen Club, and Wascana Country Club. He was also the Finance Chair for the 2018 Memorial Cup and Kinsmen Telemiracle 14. Lang was the recipient of the Chartered Accountant’s Distinguished Community Service Award in 2005, and received his Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2019.
Gary Bosgoed will continue with the Board for a second term. He is a University of Regina alumnus, having earned an Engineering degree in 1983. He is President and CEO of Bosgoed Project Consultants Ltd., a management consulting and project management company.
The three new government appointees replace former Board Chair Cathy Warner, former Chancellor Dr. Jim Tomkins, and former Board member Glen Berger. Pam Klein continues on the Board as an ex-officio member in her new role as Chancellor of the University.
“I would like to thank Jim, Cathy, and Glen for their outstanding service to the University of Regina,” said Roger Brandvold, Chair of the University of Regina Board of Governors. “Of course, Pam will continue to sit on the Board in her role as Chancellor and Gary continues his role as a member of the Board. I know that Cadmus, David, and Mark will contribute greatly to the work the Board does for the University, and I’m looking forward to working with them – especially in light of the launch of the University’s new strategic plan later this spring.”
The Board of Governors oversees the administration and business matters of the University. It has ultimate authority over the raising and spending of University funds, and over the acquisition and management of University property. It also appoints the president of the University.
