Youth charged after threats made on social media: Esterhazy RCMP

On May 30, Esterhazy RCMP received a complaint of a threat directed towards a local high school.

The threat, made through social media, included information about a potential shooting.

Investigation revealed that social media threats had also been directed at specific students of the school.

No secure-and-hold or lockdown situation was required as a result of these threats as the complaint was received outside of school hours.

 

As a result of this investigation, a 14-year-old youth from the Esterhazy Detachment area was arrested and charged with: four counts, Uttering Threats to Cause Death, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code. His name and where he is specifically from will not be provided as it could potentially identify him.

 

The youth will appear in court on July 13 in Esterhazy.
