The Yorkton RawTec Maulers’ season has come to an end.

After making it to the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League semi-finals, the first-place Regina Pat Canadians were able to sweep the best-of-five series against the Maulers.

Game one was held on Mar. 9 in Regina. The final score was 9-3.

Game two was in Yorkton on Mar. 11 and the final score was 12-1.

First and second all-star awards were given out to Maulers D-men, captain Kaleb Bulych and assistant captain Kaedan Korczak before this home game.

Game three was in Regina on Mar. 12 and the final score was 4-1.

The Maulers finished the regular season in seventh place with a record of 20-22-0-2, giving them 42 points in total.

It was not a straightforward season for the Maulers as former head coach Graham Garrett was released from his position in January. It was then when Kevin Rawlick stepped up from assistant coach to be the interim head coach for the rest of the season.

Despite the changes, the team still had a successful regular season, and won their quarterfinal series of playoffs against the Notre Dame Hounds.

Leading the team in points to end the season is forward Derrick Budz, who had 37 points (12g, 25a).

Second on the team is Kaedan Korczak with 29 points (11g, 18a).

Third on the team is Trey Bear with 28 points (9g, 19a).

Goalie Nolan Maier had a great rookie season with the Maulers, finishing with a 2.72 goals against average and a .920 save percentage in 24 games played.

Jordan Schmuland, the Maulers’ returning goalie from last year, played 22 games with the team this year. He has a save percentage of .884.

Players aging out of the midget age group include Derrick Budz, Trey Bear and Zach Halvorson.
