Yorkton was the host of the Triple A Directional Drilling Bantam A tournament, with games split between the Kinsmen Arena and the Farrell Agencies Arena.

The winner of the A-side final was the Saskatoon Wild Rebels, taking it in an 0-4 contest against the Clavet Cougars. Coming in undefeated in the rest of the tournament, the Wild Rebels made for an entertaining contest against the Cougars said Mike Shannon, tournament organizer.

There were 12 teams competing in the tournament, including 3 Yorkton Teams. Those teams included the Clavet Cougars, Melville Golden Knights, Melville Stars, Moose Jaw Warriors, Porcupine Plains Blues, Redvers Rockets, Saskatoon Wild Rebels, Wadena Wildcats, Wynyard Monarchs, Yorkton RH Electric,     Yorkton Traction,  and Yorkton Triple A Drilling.

The best showing for a Yorkton team was the Yorkton Triple A Drilling team, which took the B-consolation final against the Porcupine Plains Blues 2-1. The Yorkton RH Electric lost the C-final to the Melville Golden Knights in a tight 3-4 contest, while the Moose Jaw Warriors took the C-consolation final against the Yorkton Traction Terriers.

The tournament was a successful one, with good competitive play from the 12 teams involved, with plenty of close games. It was a great tournament to show off the skills of the players, Shannon said.

On behalf of the organizing committee, Shannon would also like to thank all of the tournament sponsors, especially Triple A Directional Drilling, title sponsor of the event.

“We really appreciate all of their support and help.”
