There are only a few weeks until the Bredenbury Tundra Junior C fall training camp begins.

Over the summer, the coaching and management staff have signed their core 14 players, leaving only seven spots to fill at camp and by players being sent down from the PJHL (six skaters & one goalie).

They expect to see between 25-30 players at camp, so the competition for the final remaining spots will be intense.

The first ice time is at 10 a.m. on Sept. 30 at the SGI Canada Community Arena in Bredenbury.

Anyone interested between the ages of 16-21 and are wanting to try out for the Bredenbury Tundra Junior Hockey Club please email the team at: tundrajrhockey@gmail.com or by phone: 306-730-0809.

Registration fee for camp is $60, and the deadline to register is September 28. Fall camp is free for all midget aged skaters.

The Bredenbury Tundra Junior Hockey Club would like to thank all new sponsors for the 2017/2018 QVJHL Season. Because of the sponsors, they are able to make their team affordable for local junior aged hockey players. If a local business, community group or individual would like to become a Tudra Junior Hockey sponsor, they can simply contact the team.

Sponsorship deadline is Sept. 15, 2017. Sponsorship opportunities are available on the Tundra’s Facebook page and at www.tundrajrhockey.com

As of Aug. 29, the team had collected 20 per cent of their fundraising goal, which would allow them to eliminate all registration fees for local players.

This season, the Qu’appelle Valley Junior Hockey League is expanding to eight teams, up from four last season.  Last year the league consisted of: Balcarres Broncs, Lumsden Lumberjaxx, Regina River Rats and White Butte Eagles. This season the league welcomes the following expansion franchises: Bredenbury Tundra, Cupar Canucks, Wolseley Mustangs and Yellowgrass Wheat Kings.

The 20 game regular season kicks off mid-October and ends in late February.

The Tundra will play 12 divisional games versus North division opponents (Balcarres, Cupar & Wolseley) and four home and home series versus South division clubs: Lumsden, Regina, White Butte and Yellowgrass. The league website is www.QVHL.ca.  Regular season schedule will be released on Oct. 1.

The Tundra are still looking for more billets for this season. Billet families will receive $300/month per player that they welcome into their home. Anyone who has interest in billeting a player(s) can contact the club.

Season tickets are available for purchase at the following locations: Town of Bredenbury Office, Bredenbury Rink on Sept 30, Stixx Gas & Conveinence in Churchbridge, Melville’s Rock Station, The Buzz & all Tundra players. Prices are $40 for adults, $30 for students, $20 for seniors and kids under 14 are free. Season tickets are good for all pre-season, regular season and playoff games.

The Tundra players & coaching staff will be going door to door in Bredenbury, Churchbridge and Saltcoats on the first weekend in October to do a season ticket blitz,  hand out home game schedules and sell progressive 50/50 tickets for $20.  You can also purchase season tickets online at their website.

The Tundra are looking to add two more members to their coaching staff.  They are looking for a volunteer trainer for the season, as well as another volunteer that would be interested in becoming an assistant coach with the club.  All transportation and meals for away games will be provided by the team. Commitment will be 2-6 hours per week with the club. Those interested can email  tundrajrhockey@gmail.com with a resume, sizes for team gear and recent criminal record check including a vulnerable sectors screening (you will be working with children under the age of 18 years old and working with senior citizens).

The Tundra is also still looking for game day volunteers for national anthem performers, gate admission, selling 50/50, penalty box supervisors, goal judges and kitchen workers. Those interested can contact the team.
