Cardinals drop doubleheader in Moose Jaw

It was not a good night for the Yorkton Cardinals. The local Western Canadian Baseball League traveled to Moose Jaw to take on the Miller Express and dropped a pair, the first contest a close affair.

It was not a good night for the Yorkton Cardinals.

The local Western Canadian Baseball League traveled to Moose Jaw to take on the Miller Express and dropped a pair, the first contest a close affair.

Moose Jaw scored three in the first, but the Cardinals responded with three in the third to knot the score.

Yorkton took a 5-3 lead with two in the fourth, but the Express got one of those back in the bottom of the frame to make it a 5-4 contest.

The Cardinals stretched their lead to a pair with a run in the sixth for a 6-4 lead.

The seventh inning hurt the Cardinals as they surrendered the lead as Moose Jaw scored four to go up 8-6.

In the eighth Yorkton responded with a pair to tie the game 8-8.

After a scoreless ninth the Express would plate one in the 10th inning for a 9-8 win.

Noah Barron had a home run and four runs batted-in for the Cardinals.

Jack Gamba was the winning pitcher in relieve tossing 2.2 innings.

Hut Smith took the loss, pitching the 10th inning and giving up the winning run.

In the second game of the doubleheader the Cardinals were soundly beaten 11-2.

The Express jumped out to a quick lead scoring five in the home half of the first innings,

In the second inning each team plated a pair to make it a 7-2 contest.

Moose Jaw would then add one in the third and three more in the fifth for the 11-2 victory, in a seven inning contest.

Geordie McDougall and Reece Helland had home runs for Moose Jaw.

Cole Warken was the winning pitcher for Moose Jaw, based on three innings in relief.

Hut Smith took the loss for Yorkton. He started and lasted only 1.2 innings allowing six hits and seven earned runs.
