It looked like the Yorkton Cardinals were on their way to their fifth win of the season tonight at Jubilee Park.

The home side scored a run in the third against Okotoks to tie the game 1-1.

Yorkton then added three in the sixth to take the lead 4-1, before the teams traded single runs in the seventh for a 5-2 score.

After a scoreless eighth the Cardinals needed only three more outs for the win.

But those three outs would not come in the ninth until the visiting Dawgs scored four runs to take a 6-5 lead.

Yorkton could not find a run in their half of the ninth to tie the game, leaving the Dawgs with a come-from-behind victory.

Brandon Desjardins earned the win on the mound for Okotoks, based on two innings of relief, with Dustin Schorie, picking up the save pitching the ninth.

Hut Smith was tagged with the loss for the Cardinals. He was the third Cardinal pitcher to the mound, going 4.2 innings allowing nine hits, and five earned runs, all of them earned.

The Cardinals Western Canadian Baseball League record dropped to 4-38, while the Dawgs improved to 33-10.
