The Deer Park Men's Club made a brief presentation to the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Dec.14, a presentation that came with a cheque to the City.

Cliff Trombley, president of the Club explained how in 2018 they approached the City to support for a six‐year interest free loan up to a maximum amount of $85,000 to build a new #7 green at Deer Park Golf Course.

The loan was to be repaid in five annual installments of $14,000 beginning in the fall of 2019 with the last annual installment of $15,000 in 2024.

The Council of the day approved the request, and work began on the #7 green in the fall of 2018, with work concluding in the spring of 2019.

The construction costs were budgeted at $150,000 with the Club providing upfront funding of $65,000. The construction cost came in at $135,471.90, which did not include the bunker sand and cart path.

The 2019 season was used to develop the green, detailed a report circulated to Council.

The bunker sand was to be installed in the spring of 2020 and a new cart path was to be constructed in the fall of 2020 and for a cost of $3,200.00 which was to be part of the loan and paid for by the Club.

In October 2019, the men's Club provided the Council and Administration with an update of the project and made a $40,000 payment against the loan that was outstanding, said Trombley.

At the meeting Trombley presented the City with a payment of $22,000, leaving only $8,500 remaining.

We want to have that paid next year, three years in advance of what was scheduled,” he said.

Trombley added the Club will now be looking at the course's Master Plan to determine “what project we can tackle next.”
