Disc golf tournament season starts

The third annual Katepwa Beach Disc Golf Tournament was held along the shores of Katepwa Lake Sunday.

After 36 baskets had been played, four rounds on the nine basket course, first place belonged to Tyler Boychuk of Regina. He shot a sparking 95 (51, 44) after 36 including establishing a new course record for 18 at 44 (-10) on his second round. The course is a par 27.

Second place went to Gage McKay, also from Regina with 96 (48, 48) with Caleb Eschbach rounding out a trio of Regina disc golfers in the top-three shooting a 97 (50, 47).

On the junior side Chase McKay is his first tournament topped out with a 127 (64, 63)

Kadie Hozempa had the best ladies score with a 113 (54, 59).

The Katepwa event was the first qualifying event for Parkland Association of Disc Golf members leading up to the Association’s season-ending Championship Challenge in October. The top two finishers at qualifying events in each category qualify if they are PADG members. Memberships are available for $20 for adults, and $10 for youth.
