Last weekend, the Kambuster’s Drag Racing Association held the 14th annual Prairie Thunder Drag Race Challenge at the Yorkton Airport.

The two-day event featured a number of different cars including nitro cars and jet cars. In total there were 92 cars with drivers from all over the province, and some from farther away as well.

Wade Stachura, the president of Kambuster’s, said everything went well over the weekend.

“The track was in extremely good shape. We had some of the best traction that we’ve ever had, and a lot of guys were happy with that,” said Stachura.

He also said there was a great turn out for the event.

“I don’t have the exact numbers, but every time I looked at the bleachers there was a good crowd. It looked a little better than average,” he explained.

Stachura wanted to give a big thank you to all the spectators, volunteers, sponsors.

“This whole show wouldn’t go on without sponsor help,” he added. “Anyone who helped out with a cash donation or with equipment – we really need this stuff to put the whole thing on.”

The drag racing event provided entertainment for the whole family with beer gardens and a firework show on Saturday evening.
