It will be the biggest curling event ever staged in Estevan, Sask., and on Thursday fans will get their chance to nail down coveted seats for the 2018 Home Hardware Canada Cup.

Full-event ticket packages will go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. CST, as fans will be able to watch many of the world’s elite curling teams under one roof at Affinity Place as they begin their pursuit for the right to represent Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The first offering of seats will feature less than 1,000 full-event packages, so fans will have to act quickly if they want to make sure their seat is guaranteed for all 13 draws (including playoffs, as well as potential tiebreakers).

The full-event packages will cost just $249.50 (subject to standard ticket service fees). Tickets will be available online at curling.ca/tickets as well as over the phone at (833) 219-4444.

More ticket offers will go on sale in the fall, but selection will be limited based on the early buzz in Estevan coming out of the April 23 announcement of the Home Hardware Canada Cup at Affinity Place.

We don’t know which teams will be playing at Affinity Place (invitations are being sent this month), but it’s guaranteed that it will be a who’s-who of Canadian curling, considering the high stakes of the event — a $140,000 purse, a berth in the 2021 Road to the Roar Pre-Trials and a berth in a 2019-20 season World Cup event.

Seven men’s and seven women’s teams will be competing, and it will be a chance to see many of the new-look teams going head to head as lineups were juggled following the completion of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The action off the ice in Estevan next December will be just as hot, as the rollicking party known as the World Famous Patch will be a short walk from the rink to the Wylie Mitchell Building. Along with the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the athletes, the Patch will offer live music, dancing, drinks and food, as well as interactive activities for the entire family.

The event website has now been launched. Keep checking www.curling.ca/2018canadacup/ for all event updates, including volunteer signup (dates to be announced), new ticket offers, team announcements and the event schedule when it is set.
